Current Opportunities
Quantity Surveyor/Senior Estimator

 

We are actively seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Senior Estimator to join our team and take on challenging and rewarding position with growth opportunities.


Ideally, this qualified individual is keen on becoming an essential member of a project team comprised of professionals­–including Architects, Engineers, Trade Contractors and Suppliers–to deliver some of the most challenging commercial building assignments in Ontario. Key Responsibilities
 

  • Prepare and evaluate construction and development drawings and specifications from information provided by architects, engineers and specialty consultants;

  • Provide advice on construction cost and strategic planning to clients, architects and specialty consultants;

  • Prepare elemental estimates from development drawings;

  • Prepare and interpret tender documents, specifications, general conditions, and other parts and forms of contracts;

  • Manage, administer and co-ordinate all types of construction and development projects, including contracts and sub-contracts, construction progress schedules, cost control systems, and work measurements;

  • Manage the procurement process during the pre-construction phase in accordance with the project's requirements;

  • Identify and negotiate with trade contractors and suppliers that are well-suited to deliver the needs of a project with guidance and oversight from the VP, Quantity Surveying;

  • Prepare, submit and manage progress invoices, valuation of changes and finalize contracts;

  • Prepare and submit construction estimates for construction and development work;

  • Develop and maintain benchmark data and unit rates from existing projects;

  • Work closely with the project team to evaluate value engineering options and make recommendations to capture cost efficiencies;

  • Attending Client presentation / design /client meetings as required.
     

Experience/Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in estimating and cost planning

  • The ability to generate detailed estimates for General Conditions

  • Experience with commercial projects

  • Able to work with minimal supervision

  • Member in good standing with CIQS or RICS

  • Experience using MS Excel, Word and Project​
